Use Campaign Studio to brief, launch and evaluate a client-acquisition test

A campaign brief should make the handoff between strategy, creative, delivery and sales easier. If each person interprets “lead” differently, a polished advertisement will not rescue the reporting meeting. Use Website Traffic’s Campaign Studio to make those decisions explicit before money or production time is committed.

This walkthrough uses a fictional operations consultancy offering a workflow review. It is a planning example, not a Waymaker campaign result. The interface was inspected on October 11, 2026. The studio prepares and records campaigns; saving one does not buy advertising or send messages.

Complete the brand kit as an approval brief

Saved brand profiles let you reuse an existing business identity; Create a new brand and New brand start a separate one. Save brand profile keeps the foundation available. Enter the actual Brand / business name and optional main Website. The optional saved Website Traffic site link associates the profile with a site in your signed-in account; it is not the campaign destination.

For Best-fit customer, describe an operating situation: “a five-person consultancy whose proposals wait several days for internal approval.” Core promise / value proposition describes the useful change you can deliver. Verified facts are supported credentials, included work and documented evidence. Claims or phrases to avoid records boundaries such as “do not promise a percentage revenue increase.” These two fields deserve client approval before copy development.

Voice and tone selects a writing direction: warm and clear, confident and direct, playful and friendly, calm and professional, or premium and minimal. Primary and Accent colors set the artwork palette. Neither a confident voice nor an attractive design verifies a claim. Inspect the export for contrast and small-screen readability.

Make the campaign brief specific enough to judge

Saved campaigns reopens a record; New campaign starts another. Use a Campaign name that identifies offer, channel and period, such as proposal-review-linkedin-october. Channel should match actual distribution: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google Search Ads, YouTube, Pinterest, Email, or Communities / partnerships.

Primary goal offers Qualified visitors, Email subscribers, Qualified leads or Sales. For the consultancy, define a qualified lead as a decision maker with the stated approval problem and permission to discuss it. Keep that definition in your CRM. An Email subscriber is a different outcome; the results form has no dedicated subscriber count, so maintain that measure separately.

Optional test budget is planned media spending in USD, not actual spending or authority to purchase ads. Problem describes the customer's difficulty. Offer / what happens next describes the exchange: a review request with clear scope. Landing page URL is the exact destination that fulfils the promise. Check the page, form, confirmation and response owner before launch.

Treat creative controls as versions of a hypothesis

Draft 3 messaging angles creates Relatable problem, Clear benefit and Helpful resource starting points. An angle changes the reason to care. Generate three angles with AI is an optional provider-dependent drafting feature. Review every claim. Preflight review is a copy check, not a guarantee of platform approval or commercial performance.

Opening hook earns attention; Headline communicates the central proposition; Caption / primary text supplies context and evidence; Call to action names the next step. Keep one action consistent across ad and landing page. Visual template chooses Editorial gradient, Calm minimal or Split spotlight. Creative size chooses Square 1080 × 1080, Story 1080 × 1920 or Landscape 1200 × 628. Confirm placement requirements in the receiving platform.

Optional product / brand photo accepts a rights-cleared image up to the current 8 MB limit. Its preview stays local and is not included in cloud saving. “Export editable creative PNG” produces a flattened PNG; revise the source in the studio and export again. Copy ad caption, Copy AI creative brief and Open ChatGPT support manual handoffs. Save campaign & creatives stores work; it does not launch distribution. Preserve the actual copy and file used for each angle.

Check the tracking labels before sharing

The tracked link uses source for the referrer, medium for distribution type, campaign for the test and content for the creative. The studio derives these from your choices. Google Search Ads uses cpc, Email uses email, and Communities / partnerships uses referral. Most social choices use paid_social when the budget is positive and organic_social otherwise. Confirm the generated medium reflects the real placement rather than merely the planned budget.

Use tagged URLs on external campaign links, not internal navigation. Never put client names, email addresses or sensitive details in tags. Attribution records an observed route; it does not establish that the campaign caused a sale. Browser consent, device changes and later conversations can separate analytics from your sales record.

Fill the results from reconciled records

FieldClient-acquisition interpretation
Reporting date / Creative angleIdentify one non-overlapping period and the creative actually used. Put the period and timezone in notes.
Spend ($)Actual media cost from the advertising account; track production and agency fees separately.
Impressions / ClicksDisplays and comparable destination clicks from the platform, not unique people or all engagements.
Website visitsUse a stated measure such as matching GA4 sessions. Do not substitute users midway through the test.
Qualified leadsDeduplicated inquiries meeting the written sales-fit definition.
Sales / Revenue ($)Confirmed deals and attributable sales value under a documented window, with refund and tax treatment stated.
What did you learn?Record sources, missing data, changes, qualification reasons, decision and owner.

Rows add together. Entering Monday and then Monday-through-Tuesday double counts Monday. Blanks mean unknown, not zero; independently summed fields can cover different periods if rows are incomplete. Export before making a major revision. The CSV currently omits the angle field, while the JSON brief retains measurement records and angle identifiers. Keep a version map with the exported creative.

Read the answers through sales quality

Suppose this fictional test costs $300 and records 20,000 impressions, 400 clicks, 300 sessions, 12 qualified leads and two $600 sales. CTR is 400 ÷ 20,000 = 2%; lead rate is 12 ÷ 300 = 4%; cost per lead is $300 ÷ 12 = $25; ROAS is $1,200 ÷ $300 = 4×. Recorded visits and qualified leads are totals, not rates.

If delivering those sales costs $800 and media costs $300, only $100 remains before fixed costs and other acquisition work. Four-times ROAS is not four-times profit. A zero denominator makes a rate unavailable. At review, reconcile the twelve leads, inspect why the other ten did not close, and choose one change. A higher click rate is useful only when it advances the client-acquisition objective.
